Cosplay Like a Pro

If you are new to cosplaying, but you can’t wait to get out to the conventions and make a splash like a professional cosplayer, then here are some guidelines for you to follow. First, start with something simple. You probably don’t want your first cosplay to be a League of Legends character. Their costumes can be so outlandish and impractical that it is hard to make them work in real life. It’s better to start simple and try for something attainable. Make up a list of all your favourite characters, then cross off the ones that would be too difficult to make a costume for. Narrow it down to a couple choices you would be happy with and then start searching. You’ll want to search online retailers and costume shops for parts you could use to make the costume. If you go with an assemblage costume instead of something you make from scratch, you will not have to put in as much work. This is a great way to start out for cosplay newbies. You can get an idea of what quality pieces look like and get some ideas for your next, more advanced cosplay. But just keep your expectations in check going in and try to start out with something that is reachable for your skill level. If you want to be a professional cosplayer, you are going to have to put in tons of work and research. Until then, just start small and have fun at your own level.
